Strategic Communications helps connect members of the news media to our faculty experts, who possess research-based knowledge that adds insight and clarity to reporting.


Media Training

Strategic Communications serves as a resource for faculty who are looking for guidance on how to effectively interact with the news media.


Emergency Communications

Strategic Communications is responsible for planning and executing the University’s emergency communications strategy. In times of crisis, the office deploys time-sensitive messages to students, employees and the broader New Orleans community using a variety of tools including: Privateer Alerts (UNO’s emergency notification system), email, the University website, social media and the news media.


Social Media

The Office of Strategic Communications oversees the University's official social networks, content generation and engagement for each platform. Our team builds connections among social media administrators campus-wide and is available to assist and train departments on social networking practices.

Publications

Silver & Blue Magazine
is specifically designed to promote the University to alumni and the external community. The publication features stories that highlight happenings at UNO, advances in research, and the outstanding contributions of the University’s students, faculty, staff and alumni. The biannual magazine is available in both print and online.

is distributed to all students, faculty and staff on a weekly basis. It promotes news, events and happenings to our internal audiences. If you have news to share, an event to promote or a story idea that you think we should know about, please sent it to Strategic Communications.
