CREATE IT
Whether you’re working on an orchestral setting of new music or an 808 drenched Bounce beat realized in the box, our teachers, labs and your fellow students are here to help make it all happen. Creativity is on tap in the School of the Arts, and you see it, hear it and are inspired by it constantly. Along with our fantastic faculty, world-class musicians visit the campus often, working closely with students in master-classes and performances to help you bring your music into the world.

Breaking in to the music business can be challenging. Not here in New Orleans, and not for our students at UNO. We live in the world’s most musical city, and we get our students out there working! Our music faculty are “out on the scene” and have the inside track to helping our students find opportunities to perform and educate. With graduates and current students making up a large part of the New Orleans musical community, current students have found themselves performing regularly while in school. When you walk out the doors from the UNO Music Program, you are joining a worldwide group of performers, educators, and composers.

Graduates of our program win GRAMMY and Emmy awards, perform at Montreux and Bonnaroo, tour with Cirque du Soleil and Terrance Blanchard, play on the Tonight Show and at Lincoln Center, teach at Berklee and North Texas and are the first call musicians wherever they end up. UNO graduates are out there living their dreams, making their mark, and paying their bills.

We know how you feel about music because we feel the same way! Our faculty live and love music every day of the week, and are out there doing it. UNO and the School of the Arts gives you the chance to hone your skills in close proximity to Blue Note recording artists, GRAMMY winners, top-notch conductors, and world-renowned players, producers and band-leaders. They know what it takes to get the killing gigs, be on the best tours, record the tracks that top the charts and write the music that gets played and paid, and are here to help launch you towards your dreams.
